Fred Enke Golf Club is governed by a set of Bylaws, read them here: ByLaws2007.pdf The following information is intended as a brief introduction to our club.
It
includes instructions on how to become a member;
The Club was formed in 1984, just six months after Fred Enke Golf Course initially opened for public play. Our goals and aims are: To provide a friendly group of golfers the opportunity for healthy competition... To establish and maintain current handicaps for each member... To generate a predictable schedule of tee times... To promote the game of Golf as well as Fred Enke Golf Course... SCHEDULES Club tournaments are played each weekend throughout the year. Tee times at city courses are scheduled twice a year through the Parks and Recreation department. We also schedule tournaments at a number of other courses in the Tucson, Green Valley and Southern Arizona area. We play a variety of formats in an attempt to provide a competitive opportunity for golfers of all skill levels. We also participate in a number of inter-club tournaments. Ask any Board member for further information. TOURNAMENT SIGN-UP Use any of the following procedures: Sign-up sheets are available at each event. If you don’t see one, ask the tournament coordinator. Sign-up sheets are also posted in the Pro Shop until at least 4:00pm on Wednesday prior to a tournament. If you are unable to visit the Pro Shop during the week, you may call 791-2539 and ask the staff to add your name to the list. After Wednesday, you may sign up by calling or e-mailing the tournament coordinator listed on the Green sheet or at www.fredenke.com on the signup sheet or Tournament page. CANCELLATION It is most important to cancel should you not be able to attend an event. If you need to cancel call the Fred Enke Pro Shop before Wednesday, or the weekly coordinator after Wednesday, as we may have someone on the waiting list. Failure to cancel prior to the first scheduled tee time will result in an assessment of a $5.00 (team event, $10.00) "No-Show" fee. This fee must be paid prior to any future participation. SCORE CARDS Scorecards must be legibly written. Any illegible or incomplete card may result in disqualification from tournaments. A complete score card includes:
1.
Your full name, legibly written.
3. Signature of scorer and attest (witness). 4. Hole by hole scores. When you play in a club tournament, your scores will be posted for you. When you play non-club rounds at Fred Enke or other courses, you will need to post your score. You may do so on the computer at Fred Enke or on the computer at any other course. When posting scores from other courses, be sure to select the correct course, tees and adjust the date accordingly. The pro shop staff will be more than happy to assist you. ODDS AND ENDSUSGA rules govern all play. We do not play "Winter Rules" at any time. During periods when fairways are being aerated, the weekly tournament coordinator may permit the ball may be lifted, cleaned and placed. We play from multiple tees at each tournament. Your handicap will be adjusted depending on the tees you play. When we play Low Gross/Low Net events, the tees that are one-up from the back will be the default tee for the first flight. You must play either the back or one-up tees to be eligible to win a gross prize. All other flights may play from any tee that is in play for that tournament. In all Net tournaments, you may play from any tee that is in play during that tournament. We request that you replace divots, rake sand traps and repair your ball marks on greens. Repairing more than one ball mark will assist in maintaining the greens at Fred Enke and elsewhere. We play four major tournaments per year: President's Cup: A stroke play event creates a field of 32 players, followed by a match play event over 8-10 weeks to determine a champion. Jameson Memorial Two-Person Best Ball: A two-round event over one weekend. Ryder Cup: A two-round alternate shot, best ball event over one weekend. Club Championship: A 54-hole gross/net stroke play event is usually held later in the year. Eligibility for this tournament is based on a minimum participation requirement established by the Board of Directors (usually 10). Ask any Board member for further information. Prizes from Club tournaments are awarded in the form of credit at the Fred Enke Pro Shop. Your account is available at any of the city golf courses. A 15% contribution by the Pro Shop is incorporated into your winnings. Our policy is to pay approximately 25% (or more) of the field for tournaments. HOW TO JOIN Complete and sign an application.
